FAQ'S

ARE 3D/4D ULTRASOUNDS SAFE FOR ME AND MY UNBORN CHILD?

Ultrasound technology has been the subject of hundreds of clinical studies over the past 30 years and has not been shown to cause any harm to the mother or unborn baby. 3D/4D Ultrasound both utilize sound waves to look inside the body. The technology is similar to radar. A probe placed on the body emits sound waves into the body, listens for the return echo and generates an image. You can speak with your doctor about the safety of ultrasound.

AT WHAT STAGE OF PREGNANCY SHOULD I VISIT?

We recommend a visit between weeks 26 and 32. However, good images of your baby can be obtained anytime after 22 weeks of pregnancy mostly if you’re planning to come in twice for a 3D/4D Ultrasound. Women with twins should visit around 27 weeks, as twins have less space. We can usually determine your baby’s gender by week 16. (We can’t, however, guarantee that the baby will cooperate during your session. Certain factors such as body tissue content, developmental stage, and fetal position all affect the ability to determine gender.)

WHAT FACTORS DETERMINE THE QUALITY OF MY IMAGES?

The most important factor is the position of the baby. Sometimes if the baby is persistently looking face down or towards your spine, it may be difficult to see the baby’s face. Other critical factors are the amount of amniotic fluid (the more the better). It is recommended to increase water consumption 1 to 2 weeks prior to the appointment date. Another factor is placenta position, and the amount of tissue between the probe and the baby. Every baby scans differently. We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images.

HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I PLAN FOR MY VISIT?

Depending on the package you choose, the package with a 30-minute ultrasound session takes about an hour. It is always appreciated if you can arrive a few minutes early to fill out paperwork.

DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT?

Yes, appointments are necessary for all of our services.

WILL MY ULTRASOUND BE PERFORMED BY A LICENSED SONOGRAPHER?

All of our sonographers have completed a diagnostic ultrasound program and are either ARDMS licensed or eligible. Our sonographers have completed extensive 3D/4D training to provide you the best pictures.

HOW MANY GUESTS MAY I BRING?
